Combined class with guest instructor Scott Peterson from Veracity Solutions, hosted by High Desert Armory in Reno, NV. Specific course address will be provided via email upon completion of sign-up.
The Precision Rifle Training Course is a comprehensive program tailored for individuals ranging from beginners with little to no formal training, to those seeking to refine and refresh their foundational knowledge. This course is designed to equip participants with a well-rounded skill set, providing the essential groundwork necessary for pursuing advanced training or engaging in focused, self-guided practice to further enhance their proficiency.
PRE-REQUISITES
Since this is an entry to intermediate level course, the only required skills are safe weapons handling skills and the desire to learn and improve.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
• Precision rifle nomenclature and set-up
• Proper rifle maintenance and care
• How optics function both externally and internally
• Internal, external, and terminal ballistics
• Zeroing procedures and the effects of the environment on your zero
• Fundamental development and diagnostics
• Rifle/scope manipulation: loading, unloading, scope adjustment for elevation and wind
• Wind reading and adjustment at distance
• Basic shooting positions and the importance of natural and artificial support
• Shooter/spotter interaction and terminology
• Non-standard shooting positions and barricades
• Tripod deployment and use
Required gear
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT (MINIMUM):
• A quality precision rifle (bolt or semi-automatic) equipped with a sling and bipod
• A properly mounted magnified optic (scope level highly recommended)
• Shooting mat and rear support bag
• Note-taking material
• Rifle cleaning equipment
• Medium-sized backpack filled with sufficient clothing etc. to serve as a shooting rest/support
• 300–400 rounds of quality match ammunition
• Water, food, clothing, and sunscreen as needed to maintain comfort
RECOMMENDED GEAR:
• Spotting scope or binoculars
• Shooting tripod
• Wind meter
• Laser range finder
